ACIS ARCHITECT TO SPEAK AT SIAM GEOMETRIC AND PHYSICAL MODELING CONFERENCE

Sep 29, 2009 2:06:00 PM

Broomfield, CO – Sept 30, 2009 - Spatial Corp., a leading provider of 3D development components for design, manufacturing and engineering applications, announces John Sloan, Ph.D., Senior ACIS Architect, will speak at the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) joint conference on Geometric and Physical Modeling. The conference is being held this year in San Francisco, CA, October 5-8. John presents in the category of Topologically Robust Computations in Geometric Modeling. John is a known expert in the field of 3D modeling and has been with Spatial for 11 years.

John’s presentation covers how developers for commercial solid modelers, such as 3D ACIS Modeler, are able to take advantage of “real-world” use cases to improve robustness. A commercial modeler may experience billions of operations across thousands of applications each year. This usage provides, through failure reports, commercial development organizations with large suites of low-probability, real world “corner-case” models and operations which stress the modeler’s algorithms.

John will discuss, from both a theoretical and practical viewpoint, some of the failure modes in modeling operations that the 3D ACIS Modeler development organization has observed over the years and techniques for avoiding them. John’s presentation is entitled Robust Solid Modeling: An Industrial Perspective, and is in the 3:00-3:25pm time slot on Oct. 6.
