This release expands the value provided to existing customers, delivering new solutions for additive manufacturing and CAE

BROOMFIELD, Colo., April 17, 2018 — Spatial Corp, the leading provider of 3D software development toolkits (SDKs) for design, manufacturing, and engineering solutions, and a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, today announced the availability of service pack 2 for release 2018. This release delivers improvement to modeling quality and additional capabilities for 3D InterOp, CGM Core Modeler and 3D ACIS Modeler, expanding Spatial’s support for additive manufacturing plus simulation and analysis applications.

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING

As an industry, additive manufacturing depends on translation to have the ability to bring in models from a wide range of sources, whether it is for software applications developed by hardware manufactures to realize the full capability of their machines, or standalone software for ISVs and Service Bureaus.

Support For 3MF

This service pack delivers the ability to read 3D Manufacturing Format (3MF), an emerging industry standard for 3D printing that includes additional details, such as materials and colors. Adding support for 3MF to 3D InterOp can enhance additive manufacturing solutions and improve automation.

3MF support in 3D InterOp extends Spatial’s additive manufacturing portfolio beyond the existing support for STL (the prior de facto industry standard). When combined with CGM Polyhedra’s tessellated representation as well as industry-leading B-rep/precise modeling, this new support ensures that additive manufacturing innovators can leverage advanced component capabilities in their hardware and software applications.

CONTINUED ENHANCEMENTS TO MODELING AND INTEROPERABILITY

Spatial also has made additional improvements to its products to extend capabilities and continues improving quality and performance. These improvements include new and updated format support for 3D InterOp:

  • NX12 version update
  • SW2018 version update

This service pack also adds Linux support for these formats to 3D InterOp:

  • Inventor Reader
  • NX Direct Reader
  • Parasolid Direct Reader
  • Solid Edge Direct Reader
  • SolidWorks Direct Reader
  • CATIA V5 R28 reader/writer

New capabilities were added for 3DScript’s interface to the CGM Core Modeler, for example, the ability to compute center of gravity, area and moment of inertia. 3D ACIS Modeler has been extended with two new additional APIs, such as the ability to check for self-intersections in a wire.

CAE

Many of the leading simulation and analysis application providers use Spatial’s SDKs. These components continue to evolve, further enabling their innovations. For the CGM Core Modeler, service pack 2 provides improved integration of Distene’s surface and volume meshing toolkit, MeshGems. Also included with this service pack is an updated to support the most-recent release of the meshing toolkit (v2.6), which provides new capabilities such as automatic patching for surface meshing, improvements to cleaning for mesh processing, and new options and optimizations for volume meshing.
