Mechanical design software benefits from Spatial’s component portfolio

Westminster, CO, and Concord, MA, USA, April 05, 2007 — Spatial Corp., a market-leading provider of 3D components, today announced SpaceClaim Corporation’s inclusion of Spatial 3D components in its technology leading SpaceClaim Professional 2007 product. SpaceClaim made its decision after thorough testing and product evaluations of the industry’s most widely used and commercially available geometric modeling products.

“There was never really any question that we would use 3D component technology at SpaceClaim,” said Daniel Dean, Vice President of Research and Development for SpaceClaim. “The component model makes sound business sense, and allows us to focus on our core competencies. We chose Spatial as a partner because of their responsive service and dedication to partnership, in addition to their flexible and expansive line of 3D products. Spatial has made a commitment to advance key technologies that support SpaceClaim’s innovative approach to working in 3D, and in turn, we view them as a long-term partner.”

SpaceClaim Professional 2007 bridges the gap between designers and those in the extended product development team—such as suppliers, manufacturing engineers, analysis engineers, and engineering management—who lack access or time to master the designers’ 3D CAD system. To date, the benefits of 3D have remained concentrated in the hands of dedicated CAD specialists. As a result, the people who contribute to design conceptualization, review, analysis, and manufacturing communicate with the design team through insufficient view-only file formats or, even, paper.

Key to SpaceClaim’s long-term commitment to Spatial was its purchase of a Partner level support package. Partner level support provides Spatial customers with a preferred selection of consulting, project management, and implementation assistance. These options provide direct benefits to the customer, including best practices for optimized code at the initial release, faster time to market, reduced costs, and proper allocation of core resources.

SpaceClaim uses the majority of Spatial’s product portfolio, including:

  • 3D ACIS® Modeler for geometry creation & modification.
  • Precise Hidden Line V5 for generating hidden, visible, and occluded line information for drawing views.
  • 3D InterOp Translators for data exchange capabilities between ACIS and CATIA® V5, CATIA®V4, Unigraphics NX®, Pro/ENGINEER®, SolidWorks®, Inventor®, Parasolid®, IGES, STEP, VDA formats.

"Spatial software components provide a robust and proven foundation for the new generation of engineering software such as that offered by SpaceClaim. We are committed to providing the software, services and support to help SpaceClaim achieve its business objectives," said Keith Mountain, CEO of Spatial. “As this new relationship demonstrates, Spatial has dedicated itself to delivering a state-of-the-art technology foundation that is continually relevant to cutting-edge application areas.”
